AVON, CO – December 6, 2018 – Thanks to its sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency, Can Do Multiple Sclerosis (Can Do MS) has retained a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is the 10th time that Can Do MS has earned this top distinction, showing the organization uses donor dollars in a fiscally responsible way to further its mission of delivering health and wellness education programs that help families with MS thrive.

“This exceptional 4-star rating sets Can Do MS apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” according to Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Based on its 4-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support Can Do MS.”

Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology. These accountability and transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices and whether they are open with their donors and stakeholders.

“Maintaining our 4-star rating represents our commitment to our donors to make the most effective use of their funding,” said Lisa Mattis, Can Do MS CEO. “Recognition from a trusted source like Charity Navigator allows our donors to confidently support Can Do MS, knowing that their donations are providing life-changing health and wellness education programs that help families living with MS thrive.”
